But you could also tell that some of the people running up weren't going to make it before the water got there the show cut it, but you could hear people in the background crying and saying that they were swallowed. The interviewed a volunteer firefighter who was posted to literally WATCH for the tsunami at the seawall. There is video in the truck, so you saw him watching at the wall and then racing away. Once it came over the wall, they hopped in their truck and literally raced just ahead of the water to their designated place and just made it up to the roof before their truck was swept away. The truck passed people walking on the street who didn't seem to realize the urgency, despite the blaring sirens. He spoke about his duty and how he regrets that they didn't stop and pick up the people they saw-despite the fact that it is very obvious that they wouldn't have made it if they hadn't been gunning it. He says he failed in his duty and that he now has a responsibility to those people. I wonder if I could be that brave in the face of such overwhelming odds and just sheer power by nature.
